Graphic Design Internship

Miller welding - appleton, wisconsin (07/02/2025 - present)

Overview
Miller Manufacturing serves the welding industry by producing machines and equipment for a wide range of applications. As a graphic design intern, I worked across divisions to support marketing events, major design projects, and product communication, while also stepping into photography leadership roles.

Role
Graphic Design Intern with responsibilities spanning design, brand development, and photography direction. Lead projects such as the 2026 Miller Calendar and the new Icon Development.

Process
During my internship, I took on a variety of projects that blended both design and leadership responsibilities. One of my largest undertakings was the 2026 Miller Calendar, where I managed the process from start to finish. Designing layouts, reaching out to autobody shops, and leading on-site photoshoots to capture high-quality imagery of vintage cars. Alongside this, I began development of a new icon set to streamline Miller’s visual language across print and digital platforms. I also supported trade show efforts by designing signage, graphics, and promotional materials that aligned with Miller’s brand identity. Throughout the internship, I was often tasked with stepping into multiple roles, sometimes executing design work, other times coordinating logistics or directing creative shoots. Which gave me the chance to grow as both a designer and a project lead.

Outcome
The internship resulted in a wide range of deliverables, from a fully designed and produced calendar to ongoing brand assets like icon systems and event graphics. My work helps Miller maintain consistency across divisions while creating engaging, professional visuals for both internal and external audiences. Beyond final deliverables, this experience sharpened my ability to manage large projects, collaborate across departments, and adapt quickly to different creative challenges.

In addition to my work with Miller, I also contributed design support for Hobart, another ITW brand under the same parent company. My work for Hobart involved creating marketing and design assets that aligned with their brand. This gave me valuable experience designing across multiple brands within a shared corporate structure.
